Mel insists I meet her at the mall Monday night

but going is easier than explaining

so I meet her at the food court to grab some dinner
while she relates her troubles with Ryan
and tells me I’m being totally insipid* lately
and to please, please, please
come to the Friday night party
I agree
and she claps her hands
“Gymnastics isn’t everything you know.”

I do know
but it’s still all I have

*insipid – without interesting qualities. Mel has to re-take her SAT’s and has been using strange words lately because of a class her mom is forcing her to attend. I don’t think she meant it the way it sounded…at least I hope not.
