Ben is heading back to school today
and wants to stop by the farm
to see me on the way.

The farm means that
I will need to tell
my dad and Gabby
and I’m not super eager to do this

I have less than three hours to make the confession
before he actually shows up
and even though I know
that I could meet him in town
and avoid the whole thing
I think
I’ll just get it over with

And this is what I keep telling myself
all three hours
until I actually hear a knock on the door
and Dad looks at Gabby
wondering who in the world is at the door of
our house at 6pm on a Sunday evening

Because we are on the road to nowhere
we never get unexpected visitors
But Ben is unexpected to everyone but me

so I answer the door.
